What is the MESA rcFoam Fighters Program?
The MESA rcFoam Fighters is a pathway to the engineers of the future and we are committed to making scratch build aviation for kids one of the top outlets in the world for them.
This vision is accomplished through:
- Affiliation with our valued sponsors/donors, advisors, and all students in the MESArcFF program.
- A process of continuous improvement.
- A commitment to leadership, education and scientific/technical development.
- A safe, secure, and enjoyable scratch build environment.
The MESA rcFoam Fighters purpose is to serve, promote, and guide students to the possibilities in the field of Math, Engineering, Science and Achievement through the lens of scratch build remote control aviation.
Over the past four years, the MESA rcFoam Fighters has had huge success in delivering STEM related projects through the lens of Scratch Build Aviation to students here in Loveland and abroad. As an after school program, funds do not come easy, so support from our viewers on our YouTube channel that attracted Partners and Sponsors, has been able to sustain this program.
THE PROBLEM:
All of this excitement was happening at the middle school level, students were moving onto high school with no program to continue what they have learned or guidance to College and Career paths. With the rcFoam Fighters program in good standings, it is now that time to continue our work and expand to the high school. For this is a part of our overall vision, "A process of continuous improvement." We must expand and keep this awesome program going!
THE SOLUTION:
The MESArcFF Program will create a new branch of the program geared towards the high school aged students. The new program that will run starting this Fall is called the MESArcFF ELITE. The program will meet after school every week and involve ex program students as well as other high school students from Loveland High. These students will have the opportunity to expand the skills learned in MESArcFF at the next level. The Engineering concept will still take place, however, increased rigor in projects as well as involvement in local aeronautical industries will be implemented. There will also be a focus on college and career planning, making sure that students are on the right path. This program will also continue production on content to be displayed on our show, so you can see your backing in action!
OVERALL GOALS OF FUNDING DIRECTION (Minimum Target Accomplished)
Below is a priority list of items that we are in need of.
1. Purchase of upstart equipment and supplies needed for the ELITE program 1750.00
2. Transportation costs for field trip visit to Scion UAS (http://www.scionuas.com/) 250.00
3. New Storage Unit for ELITE Gear 500.00
OVERALL GOALS OF FUNDING DIRECTION (IF FUNDED BEYOND MINIMUM)
4. Transportation costs for field trip to another local Aeronautical Industry visit and local school visits to share projects/demos for students. 500.00
5. Expand our MESArcFF Productions to the High School students, acquiring a DSLR camera and equipment for show. 1500.00
6. Creating a new Output machine for student use, buying the necessary parts to create a CNC Router done by both rcFF and ELITE students. 2,000
7. One to One ratio when it comes to equipment to students in ELITE and rcFF. 3,000.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS of Our first MESArcFF Graduate
Funding this project will allow for more students like Scott Bragg to have the exposure needed to gain the motivation to pursue content related engineering fields.
THANKS FOR MAKING THIS HAPPEN! GO MESARCFF TEAM!
The risks and challenges to this project is the questionable funds to make the ELITE program happen. We know we are going to have a huge interest, the problem will be can we keep that interest and motivation moving forward. If no funds were to come in, the program could be potentially run one school year and be shut down. However, if we can make this happen, acquire the necessary funds to get baseline equipment, and additional funds for field trips, elementary school visits, etc. This program will flourish, and become an example/resource for other high schools to potentially upstart a similar program for kids.
This Kickstarter is a great way to make our MESArcFF dreams public and gives our great community the chance to see it happen.
If you can't support this Kickstarter, we certainly understand but it would also be a big help if you can share this page with as many people as you can. More awareness means more people who can potentially support MESArcFF will have the opportunity to do so.
Thank you all so much for your contributions to the program, your generosity and for everyone that helps make MESArcFF what it is.
