MF-18 Hornet FREE PLANS!

To the FliteTest Community;

One of our 8th grade students moving on to High School next year is proud to announce that he is finished with his MF-18 Hornet scratch build! Just when you think plans and planes could not getting any better, it did. Kolby and Marshall have been working hard all year to get this particular plan created and up in the air for Kolby, our program, and you guys.  We had created over 3 prototypes that were all great in terms of looks, but all failed the maiden flights with the exception of the plane below.

This plane came together amazing, and it flew just as nice. This design marks the beginning of a new design series for MF style planes.  The previous set of planes were considered the sandwich construction type, smashing the two fuselage pieces onto the main wing, for example our Wolverine and the Raptor. We loved this option because it gives the planes a more scale look, and more surface area for lift.  However, it is difficult to build, trying to level those wings out while smashing the fuselage pieces is no easy task. With this design, we really wanted it to be more user friendly when it came to the build.  So the construction of the MF-18 is more of a tooth and groove build, leaving the guessing game out of the picture for individuals building this plane.  Look for more planes in the future to have this similar construction type and look, should be pretty cool. Ashton is already working on a version of the MF-15 Eagle, so stay tune for its release in Season 5 this upcoming Fall.

The coolest part about all of this is the fact that this plane along with the Raptor and the Wolverine, will be sold as kits through our local online hobby retailer Altitude Hobbies.  As a fundraiser and a way to sustain our program, we will continue our small business curriculum portion of MESA to create kits to be sold at retailers to all our supporters who want to buy our kits.  The great thing now is that anyone can buy them, not just residents of Fort Collins through Hobby Town USA.  All the funds earned on the sales of these kits will go back to the students of the MESArcFF program.  So support the MESArcFF program and get your kit today!

On a good side note, the availability of these planes might be scarce due to the students not in school till September, so more kits will come then.  REMEMBER, we are a Design Test program, we will never stop what we are doing to just make kits all day if we happen to do well.  This is not what we are about and we hope that you can respect this. We will do our best to keep up with demand if it is there.
