The new DX6 from Spektrum is a wonderfully built, solid, high quality computer radio. The box and packaging it comes in is nice. it has a matt finish, and can be used to store and transport your DX6. THe gimbals on the radio are 4 bearing gimbals. I used 3 other Radios before, all were small and playstation looking, so this is a big difference, and a good one, too. I bought mine with a 6 channel receiver for USD $219.99 from my local hobby shop. It us
es 2.4 GHz Spead spektrum technology, and as such, I use it with my New UM Carbon Cub S with SAFE.(Sorry for upsidedown pic, took from a phone, so Orientation is a problem.)
I will demonstrate the comuter radio functions while I show how to set up the UM Carbon Cub S. First, when you turn on the radio, start by pushing down on the scroll wheel.
this will open up the menu.then scroll down by moving the scroll wheel to the right, to the System Setup, 2nd option from the bottom.
then push in on the scroll wheel to "Click". It will ask if you want to continue.
DO NOT CONTINUE IF YOU ARE BOUND TO A PLANE THAT IS RUNNING! Now scroll to about the middle, and find model utilities. click that and scroll to "add a new model". Go back and scroll to the top. click "Model Select" and find the new plane, which is labeled "Acro" by default.
select that. Now go back and to model type. here you can select if your model is an airplane, Heli, or unpowered glider. next got to "Model Name" and then use the scroll wheel and enter the name.
when you are done, Go to "Aircraft type". adjust the wing type to your needs, and tail type to your needs. Now, since My aircraft has SAFE built in, it is stuck in intermediate mode. Lets put SAFE on a switch, or switch D is what I like to use. It is nice they label the switches so there isn't any confusion as to what switch you assigned to do something. for this we go to "Servo Setup" on the main Menu.
Reverse Aux1. Go back to System Setup and then channel Assign.scroll to the "next" in the corner, and then Assign the switches you want.
Aux 1 is your Auto level switch, So I like to put that in my button, or I. For gear, use any 3 position switch. I like to use the "D" Switch, because That isnt a switch I can very easily bump around. There are so many things you can do with this Radio. It is worth all the money it costed, and It will serve for a good 4-6 years to come, especially for a beginner-ish like me. The radio is worth it. THanks for reading!
I would like to thank dad for sponsoring this review! (He let me get it, I paid for a chunk of it.how
