Graupner MZ-12 - Tutorial and Basic Aircraft Setup

by FliteTest | April 4, 2016 | (7) Posted in How To

Mannie Garmy, CEO of Graupner USA, and Josh go over the basic setup for the 6 channel Graupner MZ-12.

The MZ-12 features HoTT (Hopping Telemetry Transmission) technology that uses up to 75 frequency-hopping channels to improve reliability and prevent external interference.

Binding this controller is simple and extremely fast.

The MZ-12 can store programming for up to 20 models.

The Throttle Cut is a handy feature that lets you switch off a speed controller or move a servo to the “off” or “idle” position in case of an emergency.

This controller has a lot of mixing options for delta wings, v-tails, dual ailerons and multirotors. The mixing functions and servo settings are easy to program on the transmitter’s LCD.

CLICK HERE to learn more about all of the features of the MZ-12!

The controller also features fail safe and range test functions, which will help detect any programming and range issues prior to flight.

Along with this in-depth overview, we encourage you to read through the MZ-12 User Manual.
The manual can be downloaded here: The Graupner MZ-12 User Manual

Can we get some episodes that aren't build videos and product setup for items on the store. I like that these videos are available and i'll support you by buying from the store but we haven't got the regular flite test shenanigans for a while. Some good general viewing and or challenge content and or reviews of products would be really great to see.

I have used the MX-12 for a couple of years and also used an inexpensive battery charger from Graupner. I'm very dissatisfied about their products. The user interface is intuitive and the features are weak and promise more than they actually can do. To switch my Rx to PPM, I will need to buy additional hardware that costs 40$. But there are much more downsides, that I cant all mention here. As far as I see there is no real improvement, in years! (nothing agains your tutorial or video, but I doesnt understand why you support graupner so much)

would the flaps switch arm a quadcopter on the naze 32 and the optional 2nd aileron channel change the modes of the quadcopter?

I thought this was a good, sound, sensible episode. I don't have a Graupner so it is of no value to me, but well done and thanks for talking sense.

I have this transmitter and am trying to get into flying drones especially the dragon fly. I would love to see you do a setup with this transmitter and a naze 32 on the dragon fly.

It is detailed information like this that makes me feel good about supporting the online shop.

That said, I too will echo to request for more "fun" episodes with cool planes and the occasional festive crash scene.

Thanks for the information! I'm considering the purchase of a new radio, and this one's at the top of my list. I plan to use the video to set up models, at least at first... because reading through the user reviews on Amazon, the majority of complaints are with the user's manual. By the way, I found a very informative MZ-12 review here: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2230403.

Thanks,

Gryf
