To the FliteTest Community:
The Sports Cub S has been getting a lot hype recently on the ease of build and flying for begginners. As a teacher of rc scratch build aviation, I am always looking for ways to help the students learn to fly and get interested in the hobby. We were able to get our hands on a few cubs to try out, if they were trully that easy to take out of the box and fly, then I was going to stay out of this episode and let Asthon and Jake be in charge. They did a great highlighting the pros and cons of the cub, flying was easy, and maintainance tips were also shown in the episode.
Jake pointed out the RTF version, covering the what is in the box as well as showing off the transmitter.
Jake also talked about the safe rx in place on the aircraft that allows for begginers to easly have success when first flying.
Ashton discussed the BNF type using a DX6, real easy process. So if you have a controller already, especially Spektrum, save some money and go this route.
The plane also come with a USB adapter for charging, which made it convient to charge with a laptop in the gym. We also had an old cell phone charger adapter that the unit can plug into as well for wall charging.
They handle streamers just fine, a blast to fly!
The Cubs can take a beating, and the plane held up very well during crashes. The motor and mount was the only element of the plane that came loose. Ashton provided an easy way to fix this and get the aircraft back up in the air for more flying.
