TBS Showcase

If you watched the show before you may have seen our review of the TBS Discovery

Say hello to the new and improved version, the TBS Discovery Pro!

The Pro version of this multirotor features an aluminum CNC gimbal with direct drive motors that is preinstalled.

Also featured is the TBS Core PNP Pro. This baby packs in your OSD, GPS, Telemetry, and will work anywhere from a 2S to 6S setup.

The booms are able to be switched out very easily to adjust with your prop and motor size. If you do want to swing some huge props, it's no problem.

On the other spectrum, we have the soon to be released TBS Gemini.

This little racing hex flys on 2100 kv motors spinning 4 x 5 props. This is the only prototype that exists currently.

You can tell that TBS did have the racing pilot in mind when they designed this. The booms are actually angled forward 10° so that when you are flying insanely fast, (as you will tend to do with something like this,) the body doesn't lean forward as much as it would otherwise which keeps the FPV camera pointing towards where you are going and helps you maintain stability.

The entire control board is removable. All the ESCs can be soldered out and replaced in the event one burns out on you. Better yet, if you have a separate board with you at the field, you can drop in the new one and be back in the air in no time.

We are very excited to see where TBS takes this new product of their, so keep your eyes open for this. Also, we have affectionately named it the "flying potato". Take that as you will :)

Special thanks to Trappy for stopping by and showing us a sneak peek of their upcoming racer!

OK seeing a Josh asked I'd like to air my feelings a little on the recent content of the shows. I fully appreciate that the European tour and Flite Fest take up a massive amount of time in preparations, so around these times I'm happy to watch little reviews like this one. It is always interesting to know what going on in different aspects of the hobby, but it just seems at the moment we are nearly always seeing multi rotors from other people (nothing against multis, I have a couple of them). It was re freshing on Monday to watch the Planes Fire and Rescue episode, like someone else pointed out we got back to the fun episodes that were on when David was still with you. The last plane build was nearly 20 episodes ago! I know that there will be new build episodes in the coming weeks including the Storch and more, but it would be nice to have things a little more ballanced, less commercial and more fun..
These are just my opinions as Josh asked for them! I still love the work you guys do and appreciate the time and effort that goes into making every episode..... Keep up the good work and I will always be thank you to you for getting me back into the hobby I started as a kid.

Another little note: I know that the plans are not out for the Planes 'Dipper' that Peter did, it would great to have a little build episode on that to go with the plans. Also as I put in another comment, can you please do a spec. sheet to go along with all the planes you make, it would make getting all the parts alot simpler.

Thank you once again for all you give to the hobby.

RC planes and multirotors are just for the fun of flying. Drones perform a task I.E. targets ,filming and spying, in some cases destroying. I think you are sliding down a razor blade, publicly associating with people that the FAA has selected to make an example of. This is your "livelihood" and my entertainment!

I feel like we've gone from BUILDING and FLYING - to - WATCHING and BUYING.

In the "good old days", FT taught the viewer to build simple, inexpensive DTF planes and wooden-stick multicopters so the viewer could have fun building and flying. Easy to build, easy to fly, easy to fix. But the "new" FT trend is for the viewer to sit and watch the FT crew have fun flying expensive products loaned or donated to them by a sponsor. This episode is just a commercial for TBS; I might as well watch commercial TV.

Because I understand that we have to support FT to continue getting good content, I have been purchasing SB kits (I have purchased 6 planes and 2 multi-rotors), even though I could cut them out myself. But, as the content becomes more and more "purchase from sponsors" oriented, I'm losing my desire to continue watching and participating.

Some of you may think I'm just being a cry-baby, but the FT experiment has been a great one, and I hate to see it "jump the shark" without giving them fair warning that their core audience is getting restless. Whether this opinion or fair or not, this is how I feel. Judging from the other comments, I am not alone.
