Hello everyone, I'm Flying Coqui and I go to tell my first plane history to the Flite Test Community. From the build to the R.I.P. Thanks for reading my article and comment below what you think about
Every thing began about 3 years ago, when I'm search for how chose your first plane and the first video I see is recently posted, Is the first video of the Beginner Series. And everyone who see the beginners series can see is not only for beginners it can be applied to every person with passion of flight. The first episode Is titled Choosing a Plane. I'm not began in that moment but I still decide to follow Flite Test and I'm very happy of known of it. In April 2016 I decide to use some foam of a school project to do a plane. I'm start to work and buy things. I continue doing the plane and This is the build and final result of the build just waiting the props.
I bought the props and the same day I received I flew it. Very happy I tried at home at this is the result. This is the setup: 3.7g servos, LeTodar 2204 motor, 800 mAh 3s battery, and FlySky FS-i6S 10 channels Transmitter with FS-iA6B 6 channels Receiver.
I see it goes to the right on the floor, and I just said is the landing gear don't worry about. I continue to the local park and I see a terrible thing Its tail heavy and goes to the right… I said is just the wind… I continue flying and breaking props. Just I picked my things and get out to home a little angry but remembering: BUILD, FLY, CRASH, REPAIR, REPEAT. And crashing is part of the hobby.
This is the result: 6 Flights Attempts, 2 broken props, 2 Bent Props, Damaged fuselage, wings, Ailerons, Landing Gears, etc.
Even my dog go with me!! Was a familiar event!!
As you can see broken fuselage, power pod, broken props, landing gear and tail gear. All get broken. Just the question is what do it. I began to watch the video I can take (that’s is the importance of videos don't just watch and posted, its learn.) and see the plane back to home and I see a 1/8" (20mm) error. As you can see in the photos It’s a difference between wings sides and the wing is more from one side than the other the right is a little shorter than left… In basic aerodynamics the left wing is producing more lift taking the wing to the right and that little difference made the dihedral wings get this shape.
Is not only the shape and lift that only 1/8" error made the left side goes above right side. Newbie error???? Or its just a error to anyone could happen???
What we learn?
#1 Build with patience and don’t go over any step.
#2 Bring a Crash Kit
#3 Make a Pre-Flight Check and read before fly.
#4 Tip: Bring a List of what you need to do something like this:
#5 Don’t worry for crash everyone crash. Just smile and learn.
Analyze every crash record and repair. My error is #1 One wing shorter than other #2 taking off to vertical #3 tail heavy plane. Later I use the same electronics for made a baby brit but, I fail making the alierons positions wrong. See the photos and comment below. Very soon I'm Going to be posting another article with the 3rd airplane try, Is going to fly??
Thanks to Flite Test for the free plans and tips. Also a nice build video Josh Bixler.
thats your biggest error, it was about the worst plane you could choose as a first plane, not only is it a low wing but a very responsive small one too!
a good beginners ft plane to build is the ft simple cub and even once you have lernt to fly its still fun enough to keep wanting to fly it, i fly my fpv with a simple cub because of its stability over my other planes like the ft racer.
