To The FliteTest Community,
Our multirotor designer Jack has been saving a cool design that he has been working on now over the past couple of months, and this past week he was finally able to see a prototype in hand to share with you all. Jack loves the mechanical engineering aspect that multirotors brings to the design table for him and the challenges of making all those pieces work to form a durable flying aircraft. His first frame was developed last year and was a great trainer/introduction build for him, he called it the Lemorange!
It was an all 3D printed quad and served its purpose, now growing into the hobby with the addition of cooler and smaller electronics, he has created a frame that is compact, foldable, and just looks cool. As of right now he is calling it the MF-Vespula, but he is not sold on the name so if you can think of something please comment below and we will see if fits his design. This is still prototype, so there is some minor changes that need to made, however, he should be a week away from having a finished product. See below for pics of his new creation;
The clearance was made out of 3D designed spacers, enough space to house a new gopro as an option for the user seen below.
The foldable arms still need to be adjusted based the initial testing, easy fix to the top and bottom plate,
He kept the bottom all one piece with no holes or slots to accomodate more equipment on the bottom plate and for the structural integrity of the frame. It was easier for him to just throw down some velcro and attach all to it. He has a cool honeycomb design to go with his theme.
Jack spent a couple days getting ready for the episode and it proved to be worth it, everything worked out great.
What was really cool was the ability to move the arms however you wanted them, this allow for quick adjustments to made depending on how you want to fly it and what equipment you end up placing on the frame.
Cool Jack testing so ever gently his creation.
All smiles, nice work Jack!
