So I've got this friend who's always go interesting projects going on. I had to go pick a tool up from him today and mentioned that I was building and flying RC planes finally since I know he used to fly. He got all excited and said he'd been building planes again too and showed me what he's been making out of scraps he finds in his yard:
I didn't plan on stumbling across these so I didn't have a real camera with me. And the light wasn't good. But they were just too neat not to get SOME photos of to share.
The wood is from whatever he finds laying aroundin the yard. Some from things he's grown some from scrap. He's got several grown daughters who live in town so shoe box tissue is easy for him to come by. The motors are from whatever he stripped for parts most recently.
A few of them he's actually hand tossed - but they're so delicate he's not big on testing them even though he does plan to try flying some of them if he can figure out a small enough RC setup. (out of scavanged parts of course)
He has a few cheap RC mini cars he's been meaning to pull apart to try and use the actuators from...but he has more time to build than he does to fly so it's a no rush kind of thing.
This one was the smallest and is tiny. It's got a pager motor in it and he's hand tossed it several times with good flight reports.
Showed him my foam projects and he started talking about pulling his radios out...this could get interesting.
