How to get maximum range from your FPV Rx

You spent all that money and time getting your TX and RX in place and your ground station set up nice... but you still get interference or bad reception... get your antenna higher...

Build a ground station 5-15' antenna like mine.   I get easy 3-5km flights with my HobbyKing RC305 with a 4 turn helical on the RX and a cloverleaf on the TX.   Easy to build from PVC.  Easy to breakdown, transport and set-up.  Check out the video.  Materials are listed on the description at YouTube.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Love comments...

Hope your thumbs stay happy... Good flying.

Hi, great video and idea, my only question is , is your signal not degraded with the 3 metre video signal that is coming down to your screen or goggles? or do you have a video amplifier between the Rx and your screen? keep the video's coming very informative.. :-)

I do have a slight degraded signal (meter test shows 20% degraded signal). But it still works fine. I thought about adding a in-line signal amplifier... but it is not needed.

i got almost the same electronics set up except for my receiver antenna i have a i got from bruno from fpvlab and with the 200mw i got 1km at low fliying altitude and i can fly around obstacle very easy. Your poles is a great idea but i lillte bit long for transport so you made i will buy a pvc pipe and using the tripod camera and fit it there with bolt , but for the wire or the receiver it will take a very long one! thanks for sharing!!

I will be uploading a new video soon on my new cables. I took telephone 4-wire and soldered the rca composite wires to the ends. It works great. The battery has an extension wire also. Since a have a pick-up truck... length works for me. Sometimes I just use the bottom two sections (10'). I, too, upgraded recently to the 200mw transmitter. Thanks for the comments....

I presume that helical is working in "normal mode" rather than axial mode?
