FPV quadcopter with brushless gimbal

Hi guys!

Here is my last project, a reco fpv quad  carrying a gimbaled  gopro. It is using the APM2.5 allowing fully autonomus flight and return to home. It can also hold a 3D GPS position allowing me to focus on the video.

the first flight video is at the end!

the frame holds the APM and the gimbal controler:

The system can handle both 3 and 4s batteries, moreover it has parallel xt60 connectors to allow usage of two parallel batteries.

The video transmitter is at the back of the aircraft to avoid interferences with the dragonlink receiver and the GPS.

I am currently flying it with a 4500MAh 4s which give me more than 10min (probably 12-13min) with a weight of 1780g

the last one with much less vibrations that were caused by the propellers and also mainly by the altitude control loop which was inducing pulsing from the engines:

Nice video! What gimbal are you using? Could you post a pic of how the gimbal is connected to the frame?

That's the one : http://www.goodluckbuy.com/dji-phantom-brushless-gimbal-camera-mount-w-motor-and-controller-for-gopro3-fpv-aerial-photography-blalck.html

best value you can find anywhere!

So far it's connected to the frame using big zip ties with the supportive plate of the gimbal wrapped in plumbing insulation foam for vibration dampenning.

i definitely missed that one at that price. i just got this one: http://www.goodluckbuy.com/dys-brushless-three-axis-gimbal-kit-for-sony-nex-ildc-camera-aerial-photography.html and an EvvGC 3axis brushless gimbal controller didn't catch the no motors part on ebay tho, or the fact that the EvvGC is considered experimental thus far. (d'oh!) i've got the motors and a soldering iron ordered now so i can get it together in a week or two. i'm going to try it out on a rcexplorer tri frame scaled up to 6" across w/ 35cm booms, 2830 kv750 motors swinging 11x4.7 props and 3s 2200 batt. I'm only getting 7+ minutes of flight now, so it'll be interesting to see if i have to go up to a 4s 4000 and a 12" prop and check out the flight time. since i already have a mareinez gimble controler, i was thinking about trying this gimble on my simple tricopter 2.0 with the ntm kv900, 3s 3300 and a 10" prop. thoughts or suggestions welcome.

battery looks pretty big on there, how would you get 2 batteries on there?

I wouldn't use two of these batterie. The two connectors are for the use of two 2200mAh 3S that I have but I thing it should be fine with up to two 3000mAh 3s.

Hey there, I have just got the same gimbal, did you need to do any reprogramming to move the control and mount it upside down ?
