First test of 1W wifi booster, 1 mile flight.

Note this is not a range test, just a proof of concept.

 

I just installed a 1W wifi booster on my T8FGs transmitter, to test it I went to the distance where i had trouble before. This time there where no forced FAIL SAFE.

GoPro 3 Black.

5.8ghz 1000mw tx BOSCAM w. clowerleaf.

MinimOSD v1.1

2 x RX. 805 5.8ghz w. skewplaner and 7 turn helical.

EASY DIVERSITY. 

A/V USB for PC (blackbox). 

FatShark BASE SD video headset. 

Car jumpstarter 12V power for groundstation.

I have made a DIY about the installing of the booster, look under related article. But it isn't that hard, you'll handle it :)

It will be a little more work for me. I am thinking of taking my hk6s apart, and soldering in a sma connector to add the booster. I have my little hk6s sitting around to tinker with. It dosent have and antenna, they are antena less. I get about .25 of a mile range with it. I would be interested to see how far I could get it with a booster. Maybe a fun project.

I have the same setup, but the $30 openLRS system form HK still get 3x the distance..

So if you really want to push your 2.4ghz I guess this is a great option..

you 100% right, this will never compete with any LRS but the closest you'll get without it:P.
I'll do at range test soon to see how long it will fly, without forced fail safe.

What is your experience/opinion about openLRS, setup and function wise?
