I saw the review from the friends here on flighttest and was amazed (till then I thought it's more just an expensive toy). Now I got the chance to test this copter indepth and make some flights. I visited know places to capter some stunning images and see everything from a new perspective.
Very high quality build and so many clever features - it took really long to cut this review back to watchable 30mins (from 1,5h of footage). I had to do this in german - hope you can watch it anyways with english SUBTITLES. Next reviews and videos will be in english again - I promise ;-)

Amazed by the clarity of lightbridge supported video through the Dominator HD goggles! (here the video-out on HDMI TV with OSD on)
The app (either Android or iOS version - they are the same) is really well designed! So many settings there - you don't need a laptop anymore to adjust any setting.
If you dont sped the extra money for a 2nd remote (650€?) you can hand over your connected iPad to your cam operatoer and fly using the HDMI video out to goggles (wich is better option anyways - becuase you dont see much on a tablet in the sun!) HDMI output is also faster (less lag).
The iPad Cam operator can control image with touchfunction. Works quite smooth.
In the app you see the no fly zones that the Inpire gets via firmware updates. This should keep you out of troubles that you would get if you fly on or near flight fields - which is one of the worst ideas ever...
One of the negative aspects of the DJI Lightbridge is the latency. While you hardly notice it while flying high and smooth it can give you troubles if you fly fast and close to objects. App has more lag than HDMI - sorry no exact measurements. HDMI is about the Lag the Gopro2 had - 150ms? and the app would have even more lag - so really only good to frame your shot.
Very interesting: which frequencies are used?
DJI says: 5728-5850mhz and 2400-2483mhz (and something around 900mhz in Japan)
My frequency check shows: around 2400 (but more than specified) and also around 2700mhz
and here on 5.8ghz you see it starts at 5400 and goes up all the way to 6000mhz - is this normal - maybe because I was so close to the transmitter with my measurement device? I'm no expert here but this looks interesting!
Really cool and somewhat hidden: the Flightlog
It's automatically recorded (and can help if you crash far out). You get a really impressive ammount of in flight data in the flightlog. Get it from android from \phone\DJI\DJI Pilot\FlightRecord
or from iOS using iTunes and seach for data on this app.
Convert it using this link and you get a KML file for google earth with the track and CSV files (for excel) with many parameters.
Flighttime around 13min avg with 3500mah usage out of the 4500mah 6S battery
Max Speed 80km/h
Weight with battery (4500ma): 2936gr
Pricetag 3200€ with single remote
Range?
Bodentest noch ausständig
1-2km no problem - some users get really far (like 6km) which is dangerouse with limited battery time! You can adjust the image quality (vide bitrate) and get better range - app tells 3km Range with lowest quality (which is still really good compared to all other video transmission I've seen so far!
Lag: looks like Lightbridge to HDMI is quite fast (only 80ms? not really sure about my measurements) add some 170ms more if you use the app (measured the Android app on GalaxyS3)
