Looking back on 2013 brings a lot of amazing memories to mind.....filming full-scale aircraft at the airport where I learned to fly, chasing hot air balloons with my friends at Flitetest, working with law enforcement K-9 teams and filming across the U.S. with Discovery Channel and TLC....just to name a few. I stare down the barrel of 2014 hoping and praying to not only maintain, but also rise to a new level throughout this new year. A new level as an FPV pilot, aerial film-maker, multi-rotor designer as well as husband, father and friend. To push past the limits and the goals that I set for myself in 2013.
As this industry continues to evolve.....we also must evolve. Adapting and continually looking forward to what's next. What we can we learn? How we can improve upon ourselves and what we have set out to do? Looking back only to learn from our successes.....our mistakes.....and how we can use them to push forward.
One thing that stands out from 2013 are relationships that were made and grown.....they have been life changing. Everything from hanging out with my 6-year old daughter.....teaching her how to solder and work on heli's, to becoming friends with Directors/Producers in NYC and LA that seemed only a year before to be completely out of reach. Meeting new people across this amazing country. Chatting daily on FB with new friends (Curt, Fred, Pat, Brian, Dan, Ryan, Andre...and the list goes on) that I have made through the R/C and FT community and even getting to hang out with some of them throughout my travels. This hobby truly offers more than any other experience I have ever been a part of.
With 2014 already in full-swing, the challenge to become "more" is intimidating and exciting all at the same time. I believe the day that we stop, becomes the day that we are no longer relevant.....this industry will never cease to move full steam ahead, it will not hesitate to continue on without us. That being said, we must push ourselves to the utmost limits.....taking bigger/more chances.....fearlessly walking closer to the fine line drawn between doing something revolutionary and doing something of utter failure. 2014 will be what we make of it.
I look forward to this year ahead.....to who and what it will bring across my path.....and to what adventures will be written about 12 months from now. :)
Cheers!
