Took some 2" wood screws and a damaged bolt and found that they made a really good wire-bending tool.
Two screws are offset on one side of the bolt giving us lots of options for positioning the stock when bending, and the heads of the screws kept the wire from getting away. It is all held together simply by the crushing force of the vice.
While bending, we found that this made it really easy to get the left and right leg
angles to match in-line as we had the solid surface of the vice to reference. Sure
beat trying to get
things straight just using pliers - especially on heavier wire (2.08)
for our
Baby Blender build's landing gear.
If you do a lot of bending, there is probably more going on and worth your dollar in a real bending tool, BUT, if you just want to make the Baby Blender on the cheap, this may be just enough.
