What is Parallel? - What is Series?

by Pilot Scott | May 12, 2012 | (12) Posted in Tips

We often get the question "what is the difference between parallel and series"? I have created a few images that not only show the correct +/- orientation but gives a brief description on how they effect the voltage. Enjoy and feel free to share and post at will.

Hi Scott,

Excellent explanation but the image does not display well in Firefox or IE.

Chrome likes it :)

When is the best time to apply the series wiring?? I guess if you have a good enough ESC it will provide almost double the power?? Or do volts have nothing to do with power output?? I know the C rating explains the power output steadily throughout the flight, but does the voltage have anything to do with that as well??

I think of parellel as working along side one another= you can work longer by sharing the load. The bulb glows longer
Series is working together= you can do the same job faster. The bulb glows brighter.
