The OpenROV is an open-source, underwater drone project.

The underwater drone is an open-source remote operated vehicle (ROV).

OpenROV also offers an online community of explorers through OpenExplorer, a digital field journal for explorers from all over the world.

As an open-source project, OpenROV has contributors working on improving software, hardware and electronics. CLICK HERE to learn more.

The OpenROV v2.7 streams HD video back to a laptop over an ultra-thin two-wire tether.

The camera faceplate features an LED board provides illumination in the depths, and the lasers which provide both scaling and distance measurement capability.

The OpenROV v2.7 maneuvers using thruster configuration with small brushless motors.

Nice idea.
As a scuba diver I can tell you there are a lot of trees, metal and other stuff in the water.
So how you are dealing with the problem that the “live” wire to the surface might entangle or enmesh with branches for example?
