HighFlightRC - Caipirinha & Bixler 2 Flight

by HighFlightRC | October 30, 2014 | (0) Posted in Just Fun

The 1st video of HighFlightRC!

At first we launched both planes!

Then we started to do normal fun flying!

We then decided to land!

We landed the TBS Caipirinha quite softley but for some reason the landing made the GoPro case fall out.

But the good thing is it's fixed :D

After that we talked about the pros and cons of the planes (also seen below).

Now, here are a few pros and cons of both planes:

1. The Caipirinha needs the weight of the GoPro in the front or else it is extremely tail heavy and it is unflyable.

2. The Bixler 2 needs a bigger motor. When you buy the Bixler 2 it comes with a 1300kv motor and you can not fly with it in that much wind. The motor I suggest using and I am using is a HobbyKing NTM Prop Drive 28-36 2200KV / 696W motor. It can do vertical with a 3s and it's great!

3. The Caipirinha winglets come with adhesive backed velcro, to stick the velcro on the plane and also on the winglet. The thing is the velcro is stronger than the adhesive and when you crash the velcro doesn't come off, the adhesive rips off the plane!

4. The colour of the Caipirinha is very good! The black is good for when your flying on a bright day with cloudy or blue skies! The yellow can be very good in the evening or at twighlight!

5. The Bixler 2's wings are really big! So that means that it is very stable. The more stable it is the easier it is to fly. So that makes the Bixler 2 a very good beginner plane.

6. The Bixler 2's decals are pretty bad quality and they peel off very easily.

Hope you like our first article!

Happy Flights!

Love it guys, I have a problem for you to figure out! If Ireland had to create its own jet, what would it look like? You guys come up with a design, we will make it for you to showcase on our show. Keep it up!

Challenge Accepted! One question. When you say come up with a design, should we make plans or just like a picture or something like that? Sorry I replied quite late. When I saw your comment I, Nathaniel had to go to school. But I told Will and we were thinking of tonnes of aircraft designs! Fun fact! The Irish Aer Corps does not have any jets! I'm kind of annoyed with that fact though... We only have cessnas and turbo-prop planes. And thanks a lot!

Yes come up with a design concept, drawings, maybe some small prototypes. Create an episode showing your design, let us know when you post, we will watch, and from there have our students take the presented designs and create Ireland's Jet. Once we get it all in CAD, we can shoot some plans out to you so you can build along and beta test with us.

Nice Work,
Marshall

Will and I have got an idea for how the plane is gonna look now! We've ordered some foam board to make a prototype. When we make the prototype we'll post a video! From Nathaniel!

Hi Marshall! I have not built the prototype yet but I have built a flying wing to get used to building with foam board. But now I have gotten used to it so thats good. I'm starting on a prototype now so it shall be finished soon.

Sorry for how long its taking us. The weather isn't great here. It's always windy. But we've got it done now we just need to test it when the time is right. If it flies good we'll use it, if it doesn't we'll make another. But anyways, it has been so much fun building this. Thanks for asking us it's been a lot of fun!
