To the Flite Test Community,

Taking the skills learned from our great hobby, and providing our students then with the opportunity to go and experience it in a job like scenario... now we have made a connection... an impact!  UAS work is on the rise, and businesses all over are starting to get educated on the value that "drones" can bring to their day to day operation.  By obtaining your Part 107 as an educator, you now have the opportunity to expand the reach of your classroom in getting your students to apply what they are learning in the actual field.  We had the great opportunity this week to go out and have the students conduct a UAS operation of doing progress monitoring for the FCI Construction Innovation Center Project.  Prior to heading out, the students had to conducted pre-flight checks, go over onsite safety checks, and identify crew management during operation.  We recently used some Grant funds to purchase our latest UAS system, the DJI Phantom 4 Pro Obsidian addition seen here;

After identifying last minute safety checks, it was time to get the UAS setup and get to work.  In this job, we are supposed to get a running video shot of the construction progress, ISO shots of the four corners of the build, and capture enough images for an orthomosiac top view shot of the entire foot print of the site.

With our new UAS, Karsen was in charge of piloting the aircraft and achieve the necessary waypoints moving forward to bring consistency to the videos updates.  Each got to perform being the Visual Observer and Operating Pilot.

The building is really taking shape, we can 't wait until this project is done!

A lot of people who are watching our build progression are liking the colors, saying we should keep them.

Here is one of 20 shots Jonah took of the site for his Orthomosiac image.

All smiles! Nice work guys, every week until the end of the semester, students of the program will be able to come out and operate the same mission.
