A friend of mine became 17years old, as he was my "flybuddy" I deceided to make him a plane. Because I knew he really loved the looks of the ft-Spitfire, I chose this plane.
After building one for myself so I could make sure I wouldn't make any mistakes while building his. As I expected I couldn't find any type of foamboard wich had paper sticked onto it anymore so I had to improvise. I was able to imitate the effects of the paper using normal depron and self sticking plastic foil. I had build a ft- Cruiser before with the paper/foam combination and had some scap pieces laying around so I could experiment with it. I found out that the plastic/foam combination even was a little bit stronger than the foam with the paper on it but it was a little bit heavier, I didn't really care because I knew the plastic made it waterproof. After a while I noticed I had a problem, I wanted to paint the airframe but with the plastic already sticked onto the foam I knew that it wouldn't take long to make the paint fall off so I had to start all over again. I first painted the foam after tracing out the pieces and then sticked the plastic onto it. After cutting out the pieces I started building and this is what it became.
