If you’re looking for an awesome FPV monitor, DVR, or diversity setup – why not get all three?

The RC708 is a seven inch FPV monitor which has a 40 channel receiver built in with diversity and includes a rechargeable battery. For around $150 on Banggood.com, you’d be hard pressed to find a better unit for the money.

The packaging it comes in is quite nice with foam inside to hold the monitor in place, and the monitor sports a nice rubberized coating on the monitor similar to what can be found on the Fatshark Attitude FPV goggles.  The monitor itself is lightweight, but not overly so and actually feels rather sturdy. The battery bay is on the back and is easy to get in and out of, and though I haven’t found them yet there is hope you will soon be able to purchase multiple spare or replacement batteries.

The user "Manuel" - "Que?"

Beneath the monitor tray lies a box of goodies including a user “MANUEL” (sic), which turns out to be written in fairly clear English and is actually helpful.  The button layout on the screen leaves a lot to be desired, so you will be referring to this manual often.  There’s also a small plastic sun shade that folds up nice and neat and attaches to the monitor. Also included are power cable with a JST connector, an AC adapter, and a video input/output cable.  As usual two rubber duck antennas are included to add to the useless pile, and finally a 7.4V 2800mAh rechargeable battery. All in all it’s a nice little package for 150 bucks, and I couldn’t wait to put it to use!

DVR footage - not too shabby!

Out at the proving grounds I set up the RC708 with a standard cloverleaf and patch antenna and pressed record. I flew around for a bit using the receiver on my Fatsharks, and then later using the video output from the RC708. What a difference! The diversity works very well, and the quality of the DVR is more than acceptable. The resolution is only 640×480, but even scaled up it looks pretty good. I used the RC708 at my next race and was very happy to learn the battery lasted several hours on a full charge.

The whole shebang!

The Skysight RC708 is an awesome all-in-one solution and adds a ton of capability without having to drag around a huge ground station. The diversity works very well, and the DVR quality is decent for the cost. The battery lasts 2+ hours on a full charge, or you can power it from an external lipo for longer flight sessions. Some of the buttons can be confusing, so keep the manual around for assistance.

If you’re in the market for a diversity FPV monitor, you really need to give the Skysight RC708 on Banggood.com a look!
