TODAY I am revisiting the test flight of Sky Pilot TS839, a budget FPV plane we purchased recently for just over a hundred US dollars. A quick assembly plane, no glue needed (plug, screw them on, add a receiver). The Sky Pilot resembles the Volantex Ranger FPV planes in some ways, so we decided give it a try. It has a 1300mm wingspan that is just small enough to fit into a standard size car trunk/boot without taking it apart. A short fuselage span of 925mm.
One of the more interesting feature of the plane is that it is designed for GoPro or similar FPV cameras. There is a base plate by the landing gears that allows you to install a camera. The recommended main battery size is 11.1V 1800mAh 20C Li-Po 3S, but we use anything from 1300 mAh to 2200 mAh LiPo battery, giving us easily over 22 minutes of flight time with a 2200 mAh. It comes with a brushless 2815 1200KV motor and a brushless 20A ESC.

Let's take a look at the pieces that comes with it before it was assembled
I would say that for the most part, all the parts looked good, and precisely cut. The FPV decals are included but we decided to paint parts of the wings and vertical stabilizer in red and left most of them out for now. I had two minor concerns when we first started building it, just some foam damages but they have been resolved. Overall, it is well designed.
The inside of this plane is reasonably spacious, a warehouse fuselage to store all your fpv gadgets. The overall cut seemed more refined than the Volantex Ranger, which we also reviewed two months ago. The rubber band used over the high wings turned out to be a good thing, as it held the wings nice and tight, whereas we had an issue holding down the Volantex Ranger with bolts provided.
The center of gravity (CG) is by the wooded wing enforcer. It is very well balanced and more important easy to balance.
We like that there is a separate compartment for your flight controller and receiver.
Modular design, easy assembly, easy maintenance, I would about 95% screw it on and 2 rubber bands.
A matter of taste, we only used some of the decals and decide to paint some
To conclude, the Sky Pilot TS839 manufactured by Tian Sheng is well-engineered. We like how it flies, it self-levels with the high wings. It can fly at a very slow rate, which makes landing a lot easier. We do recommend the Sky Pilot for anyone who is looking for another perfect trunk size FPV plane with landing gears and fast assembly.
