This is a cool video of just about everything! Also you may want to see some of the other videos. Like the repair video after a crash. Really like the tail servo mechanism for the mini tricopter, the motor is mounted directly to the micro servo. Nice job! Log In to reply
It is not really needed for the little motors I use. Even the cheapo HXT500s work fine but they tend not to survive bad crashes.
For anything bigger I use David's method and a metal gear servo. Log In to reply
Anyone who hasn't checked out the RCHacker channel on YouTube, you are missing out. Marc does GREAT videos. If you're looking to do heavy mods to your 9x transmitter, Marc's your guide. Looking for the technical details on 433 MHz LRS, Marc's got it. Log In to reply
Cheers, yeah I got into a bit of an openLRS rut for a while there. I do however love the system and the openLRSng firmware code is porn for programmers. Log In to reply
Yes, a 433 MHz RX/TX module was somewhere in the middle of my list of future upgrades, but it moved to the top of my list when my brother and nephew suffered a devastating fly away last month. My nephew got a Bat Bone tricopter for Christmas and barely a month later they watched it fly away, lost forever. OUCH!!! With the 808 keychain camera, they lost $400+ that day.
I really like the Locate Beacon feature on the 433 MHz RX with OpenLRSng, and you get the range that the 433 band provides. Their fly away was on a freshly topped off 2200 3S battery, so there's no telling how far away it flew. A beacon would have saved their Bat Bone. Log In to reply
I've been meaning to test how long the beacon lasts. Will do before I make any volcano attempts. If I lose something here can take a few days just to get there. Log In to reply
No, no, sorry if I wasn't clear, I just meant that the video was so interesting I would find it hard to believe someone wouldn't want to subscribe for more goodness after watching it. The annotations work perfectly. Hats off to you. Log In to reply
