Quanum FPV Bundle Clean Setup

Hey guys!

My Quanum FPV Bundle HobbyKing order just arrived.

After finishing all cables look completely disordered!

So I checked for a couple of solutions for a clean setup and someone solved the problem by a simple paper roll!

So I decided to solve my problem same but a better looking way...

First, I shortened all the extremely long wires one by one. These are;

  • Receiver's power cable,
  • Receiver's AV cable,
  • and monitor's power cable.

First, I've cut and shortened the wires and soldered them back.

It's very simple, don't be nervous about doing it. Same cables, same colours, same ways, only shorter. You'll not ruin it, trust me! After soldering, cover the soldered points with isolated tape (the way I did) or you can use heat shrink tube if you have.

After this process, you're done with cables. Now it's time to give a better look to this paper roll. Here is my solution for that;

I covered the paper roll with self sticking carbon fiber film and here it is!
Now it looks clean and perfect with your Quanum Goggles.

You can get the carbon fiber from here; http://www.aliexpress.com/item/1-pc-Black-1-52-0-5M-4D-carbon-fiber-vinyl-film-4D-carbon-fibre-sticker/1869788252.html?s=p

(But i won't tell you where to get the paper roll! NO WAY! lol)

Then I used a piece of self sticking velcro to put the roll on top of the goggles.

You can see the result in the picture!

I stuffed all wires into the roll. Only left the connectors outside of the roll.

Covered the open side of roll with scotch tape in case of dorpping wires.

I mounted the receiver behind the goggle with double sided foam tape, and also put the receiver wires into the roll.

I permenantly closed the other side of the roll with carbon fiber tape.

Hope this is helps to make a clean setup for everone who has this bundle a simple and cheap way!

Greetings from Istanbul !

I started shortening those extra long cables. The first one I cut was co-axle. Tons of really fine little wires inside. I almost freaked out. I never thought it would work again. After spending lots of time with the soldering iron it did work but I would never attempt to do any of the other wires. Not my kind of job. Not for the faint of heart or weak of soldering skills. Yikes!

It looks great, but what I think you will find is all that weight at the very front will cause the unit to press down on the bridge of your nose, making it very uncomfortable in a short period of time. Because there is only one strap running side to side, its going to hurt. You should look into a strap that runs from the top to the back of your head, or consider mounting the unit on a welding helmet frame. This allows some of the weight to be distributed more evenly.

Yes you are right. These days I intend to add an extra strap from top to back just like you said. And also some soft foam aroud the nose area
