Welcome to our very first Build, Tune, Fly! We are taking a closer look at the P-51D Mustang from our Weekender Warbirds episode.
The first step is, obviously, BUILD!
This goes together extremely easily and the provided instructions do a great job of explaining everything.
This plane goes together with no glue or tape. Everything either fits tight or is screwed together.
Once the plane is put together, you want to TUNE!
These are the recommended rates Josh likes to use. Each has its advantages and disadvantages but use whichever is most comfortable for you.
This is also where you would check your throws and make sure left = left, right = right, etc.
Now for the most fun part. FLY!
Also, if you are going to belly land, remove the drop tanks!
We hope this gives you an idea of how this P-51 Weekender Warbird sets up. We really enjoyed this plane and hope you do to!

After you guys have done enough of these type of nearly-ready-to-fly planes, I think it would be great if you moved onwards and upwards with some (slightly) more challanging assemblies.
For example: the E-Flite Taylorcraft 450 like Chad's. The process would be fascinating to those who only know foam and DTF and the details of a more intermediate build are great lessons to be learned.
Once built, then you tune (trim) the plane and then you could start talking about mixes on the Tx for high wing planes like the Taylorcraft 450, Apprentice, Super Cub etc.. and what they are doing and why.
I would love to see/read/learn all about that.
Keep up the great work.
btw...in the video, Josh centers the servos with a Tactic 650 Tx and then flies with a DX18......what up like that?
