I saw this product in the local Home Depot and having seen several "pink foam" models on the FliteTest and RC-Groups websites, wondered what one could do with this stuff... 24in X 24in X 1in and virtually the same density of the bigger, thinner pink sheets.
I've been itching to build a F-22 foamie but the winds have been brutal here this summer, cutting into the good days for foamie flying. I thought this thicker stuff might provide a little better penetration for those windy days.
Used the plans referenced in an earlier FlightTest build video and available on RC-Groups, the link should be in the FT build page. Referenced at bottom of this page.
The foam was easily cut with a handheld jigsaw and edges/contours shaped with a power palm sander and 80 grit sandpaper. Go with finer grit for finish work. The vertical/horizontal stabs are dollar tree (Adams) foamboard. The verts are two ply for ridgidness.
NOTE-- This pink foam does not handle hi-temp hot glue well, lo-temp seems to work fine. Note the areas where the fuse mates with wing...hi-temp glue melted the foam a bit.

I made a couple of maiden test flights before painting...very pleased! Tracked like an arrow on rails...the extra weight of the thicker foam definitley helped it handle better in the wind. Now if the rain will stop...I'll work on posting some flight video.
UPDATE- Here's the video:
As always, I want to thank Chad, Josh and Josh, David and all those folks behind the scenes at FliteTest for sharing ideas and sharing this hobby with the world in their own special FT way! You guys Rock!

I love how the credits are longer than the clip.
... I still don't know why I haven't built one of these yet. I bought the new Flite Test motor mount for it and everything.
