I would also like to know cost, and also figure out where to learn about electronics. I just got into this sport with the Phantom, but want to build this to learn the basics.

It costed me around $250. I watched a lot of youtube movies to learn about electronics. These two helped me a lot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCPMC_fiSMI and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6K4NXoq-Qk

Thanks. I saw the flitetest one but the simplecopter video had some more detail. Thanks for the info. I think I'm ready to start ordering :) I just now need to see if my little cheap DX4e will work and get me by for a while ?

A tricopter needs a minimum of 4 channels to fly. However, if you want to use the auto-leveling capabilities of the KK2.0 board, you will need a 5th channel to turn it off and on with a switch on your transmitter. It can be set manually through the menus when it is on the ground, but not from a switch on the transmitter with only 4 channels.

Wouldn't be better to use a larger prop since it's 750kv?

You are right! Changed them for 11*4.7 props

I think that the reason that David uses a 750KV motor with 9x4.7 props is that it is more responsive when flying. Somebody correct me if I am wrong.

He uses the 9047 Prop because he is running a 4S setup which means that the props spin faster at the same throttle setting.
750KV motor spins 750rpm x voltage = final RPM
So to use a 11x4.7 prop would over Draw the motor and cause it to over heat and become destroyed. So using a 9047 4S setup would produce the same if not more thrust than a 1147 3s setup. You also get higher RPM which has its own benefits such as better responsiveness

I am curious to know how those motors worked out for you. I have been looking at them because the DT 750's have been backordered for so long.
