The After Hours crew did a review on the Libelle not too long ago. It was sitting in the shop and we thought we'd have some fun with it.
Our discus launches aren't the strongest. Without a tow plane we only had one option left.
With some ingenuity and some fishing line we had our mul-tow-rotor!
The Libelle wasn't exactly happy being pulled up by it's tail but held together.
To our surprise the release mechanism was a success! If you're wondering how we did it, keep you're eyes open for an FT Extra video coming soon!
The glider performed very well even under these harsh conditions. We'd relate it to taking your big wheel through a touch-less car wash.
The only downside was that Peter didn't get that long of a flight time. We could only take the Dragonfly as high as Josh could see it L.O.S.
So how do we fix the problem...
"The FPV little micro thing!"
Peter designed this 5.8 GHz FPV setup. It's great for small crafts that can't lift a lot of weight and is pretty affordable.
If you want to make one yourself, check out the build: DIY Micro 5.8GHz FPV
With the FPV, Josh was able to tow the glider much higher.
If you are ever in need of a tow and don't have a plane, you can always use your multirotor!

You should tow up more gliders on this show:)

I was thinking you should just lift the glider by the nose, and then I realised that the rocket launched glider is the answer: Tow it up wings folded then drop and deploy!
I would say I'll do it and send you the link but I don't have a multirotor, so over to you ;-)
