Horizon Hobby Champ S+ Review

by FliteTest | October 19, 2016 | (0) Posted in Reviews

We test flew the new Horizon Hobby Champ S+ plane, which is now available in the Flite Test Store!

The Champ S+ is super easy to set up, anc includes lots of great smart features such as SAFE technology, AutoLand, holding pattern, virtual fence, flight evelope protection and AS3X stabilization to combat turbulence.

AutoLand makes the Champ S+ autonomously land near the takeoff point using a stabilized approach. Holding pattern is a loiter feature that keeps the plane circling at a constant altitude until the command is canceled.

The virtual fence is a geofencing feature that creates a boundary that the plane will not fly past. The flight envelope protection uses pitch and roll limits to prevent the plane from entering extreme flight conditions.

The Champ S+ comes ready to fly, and it has a built-in direct hookup for FPV. Just plug in your camera and go!

The auto features are great for beginners but can be turned off as you get more experience, making the Champ a versatile plane for beginner and intermediate pilots.

The Champ is lightweight and flies nice and smoothly. We had a great time flying it together!

The Flitetest Gremlin was on the grass next to the left wing of the Champ.
Just as Josh Scott says "Over by the building".
Time was 6 minutes 24 seconds.
