Hello and some cheap hacks for my DJI450

Just wanted to say hello to the community and post some of my customisations to the DJI450.

I have learnt as I have broken things.. so thought I would share how I try to solve small issues.

As I said, I have a DJI450. The first thing I noticed after adding a camera under the belly, was that it didnt sit very tall. There is very little to no space under the body.

So while at my local £1.20 store (I am in the Isle of Man, so they add 20p to have the items shipped over here) I noticed some bendy chord. You get 2 for £1.20.

So I built my first set of legs:

A closer look:

as you can see, they are a bit long and so I have folded them back while I work out the right length for height and strength. They are strong and have some bounce in them. They can also be folded away while they are in the car.

I have also added a small inclosure for my FPV camera. It came with a really long cable that Iwanted to roll up and keep out of the way. So after a quick trip to B&Q I found a little box that was perfect:

I used some of the extra leg material for seperation. The little box opens and closes so it is easy to take apart and service etc...

This is all noobie stuff i know.. but keeps it off the ground and protected.

Next I am going to experiment with the RX and also a GoPro gimble. So any tips would be great.

I am working towards having a sytem that is more modular. So if I want to fly FPV I just plug the parts on, if not, they should just come off. The same goes for the gimble etc..

Nice work! Does the material between the camera and frame work well with vibrations? I am located in Australia and I have used hot water heater insulation (the stuff that goes around the pipe in the roof). I purchased it at Bunnings hardware for $3.00 and it looks very similar to what you have used. I didn't expect it to work for vibrations but it worked brilliantly!

Yeah that's the foam that the legs are made out of but with the bendy wire removed.

I haven't uploaded any recorded video yet, still tweaking, but when flying fpv I dont get any noticeable vibration, but without it I do.

I am now looking at using the gel like substance sold to go in shoes, it looks like it could help too.
