The flying box was a dream of Chad's back when we didn't even have color cameras yet! (just kidding, we have Photoshop)
After a few designs we laid it to rest, never having a successful flight with the box.
Fast foward 4 years and we run into Kelly and Anthony. Turns out these guys had been working on the same thing before we even thought of it.
The main difference is instead of giving up and getting distracted by something even crazier (like we do sometimes) they stuck with it and developed the Glow Kite.
These babies are the product of 5 years work, countless design adjustments, and a few custom made components just for this craft.
While we were shooting the wind wasn't too kind, but it just proved that even with the wind these things fly amazingly.
Our biggest problem when trying to fly a box was control, but the tail system they figured out is borderline genius.
As of now this is a project between father and son. BUT, they say if somone who consideres themselves a kite/RC person would be willing to help figure out manufacturing they would love to get in contact.
You can find a promo video and send Kelly a message at youtube.com/fantastglowkite.
As always, these are the moments that light up our hearts. Seeing a father and son get together to creating something unique and amazing is why we do what we do.
If you have some awesome projects that you've made with your loved ones, post a picture or a video with #flyingfamilies.

There is a german guy, who is into RC kite flying since years. His website is http://crazyplanes.de/ It is in German, but there are lots of photos and videos of his vector kites and also a lot of information. He is flying almost every kite design as a vector kite: Deltas, Canards, X-Wings, Rotators, Stuntkites, Microkites, Boxkites, 3D Birds and so on.
He is also building other experimental aircrafts and crazy stuff like Rotorwings. It is amazing and a lot of fun!
Flitetest, come to Germany and bring some of his crazy planes on your show! :-)
You may know that there is a pretty active RC kite scene in Singapore. Check out the GoFlite Skydancers. They are flying in the night: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIXtC8N9G2c
Also, if you like kite flying (without RC), check out Ray Bethell, the multiple kite champion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E69flRylQRo He is flying 3 kites at the same time coordinated to music. The video quality isn't good, but it is inspiring.
Cheers!
