FT-3D Armin High wing MOD Review

by EndoftheRoadRC | May 28, 2013 | (5) Posted in Projects

After interaction between my FT-3D and a light pole (no video = / ) I removed the mid wing and added a classic 40" Armin wing in a High Wing configuration.  The top access hatch was shaved off, the wing mounting, servo, and power pod holes patched and skimmed with hot glue, and a access hole added to the front for the battery.  Wing attached with BBQ&bands.  Simple mod for an entirely different experience.  This version is still 3D capable and crazy fun to fly.

You sir have a good idea. I am now heading to dollar tree for more foam. Handles like a high wing trainer thanks for sharing.

You betcha, and ya that was the idea for use as a trainer, works great, needed to shift the battery placement back a bit

I 've got ten different planes using Armin wings (bipes , low wing , high wing ) still the best wing I 've used . Flys ok inverted and doesn't seem to care if it's windy (good thing this year), I wonder how it would do midwing FT3D

I agree the Armin wing is tip top. My next version will move the Armin wing into a low wing config. on the Ft3d, might have to make the last stop in the middle

I 'm doing the same thing but do to laziness, and since I have the parts already I'm thinking 5 in cord with 30 in wing span. Anybody want to do the math for wing loading?

If you buy the kit , trace it on construction paper for easy rebuild.
