FPV Starchaser Build Part 1

Greetings Everyone!

I have finally finished the free plans and build video for the FPV Starchaser! I have put the plans in PDF format and they are tiled plans, so that you can print them out on your home printer. They are aligned by overlapping the pages and aligning up the "X"s, or crosses. I would recommend using thinner typing paper, it is pretty transparent and allows for easier alignment. Make sure you set your printer on borderless, or full page.

The video is part one of two and will present the build of the plane sans graphics and electronics installation. I hope to have part two, the graphics and application video in about a week, but if you decide that you do not want to use the graphics feel free to paint your plane and install the electronics however you like, the design is pretty open to customization!

If you wish to wait for the graphics that I have designed for the plane I will also have a section in the video on how I have installed my electronics and FPV set-up.

Thanks for checking out my design and happy building!   Starchaser Plans.zip

I like how you used pins to get the lines off of your templet. Never thought of it. A longer process but precise lines.

Thanks, I had gotten the idea from the balsa planes I used to build. When I took the pins out they would leave the pattern of the plane on the building board!

I concur with Hank. Great idea using pins to mark the plans lines. I have used pins in the past for things like interior aileron hinge corners but never thought to use them for the plans outlines. I will have to try this on the next build. Thanks.

Hi Alanruss, CG is going to be 2 and a half to 3 inches from the leading edge. I check the balance by holding it from the cockpit around the area where the CG is instead of flipping it upside down like you would do on a standard low wing aircraft. I will also make it slightly nose heavy rather than perfectly balanced because the canards will help to lift the nose up. Best of luck with your flight!!!

Do you have the planes as a DXF file or one large PDF?

Thanks
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
I may be able to put the plans together as a large PDF, I will try to work on it this weekend and let you know.
