Watch to see how slope soaring is done. It is very simple to do but does require some experience to stay out of trouble. Depending on the wind speed you can slope soar with anything from a highly efficient glider to a warbird. Wind direction is the most important part about sloping, you are riding the wave of rising air that has hit the face of a terrain feature like a ridge or cliff or butte. As the wind hits the face of the terrain it is driven upward creating a pocket of rising air. Flying your model into the pocket will allow you to glide around continuously riding this wave.
Beware of the leeward side of the feature you are soaring because nasty turbulence called 'rotors' will throw your plane all over the place. See 1:30 in the video for an example.
Slope soaring adds a whole new dimension to FPV as it provides the technical challenge as well as the sensation of soaring like a bird. Not only that but since you are soaring with no motor it drastically increases your time in the sky!
Plane is 36" Popwing with 10" blunt nose extension, more info on FPVlab.com.
