This video is of my Dad's first lighter than air solo (hot air balloon) made on 6-21-13. He is a fixed wing pilot for a living so this type of flight is a bit lower and slower than what he is used to. The yellow balloon (Freebird) was given to him by my older brother Joe who is also a hot air balloon pilot. The Cameras I used were a Gopro Hero 3 (black) and a Nikon D3200.
The music is a song I wrote and recorded using my iphone 4 (GarageBand Mobile)
For the aerial footage. I used a Flite Test Bat Bone Tricopter and a gopro Hero 3. More info on my Tricopter below..
Unfortunately I was short on time and had to use these ear buds to dampen the vibrations on the gopro. I think it worked fairly well considering.
I just installed my camera plate today so my future videos should have a little less jell-O..
Here's my dad coming in for a landing in the G550 he flies for a living. We are very blessed and thankful for his successful career. He is beyond a great father figure and it was so nice to see him so happy after soloing the balloon. He soloed a fix wing aircraft for the first time in 1976. It is incredible that the fantasy and exhilaration of flight seems to never wear off, no matter how many flights flown, miles traveled, and places seen.
Here's what I am using on my Bat Bone Tricopter.

My older brother Joe bought the balloon from a church. The balloon originally displayed the logo of the church on the side, however, with a little modification he was able to tranform logo into a bird like 'thing' and "Freebird" the balloon was born.
Here is a video my brother made with some highlights from the 2012 ballooning season. For more, check out balloonpong.com.
Thanks for taking the time to view my very first video! I hope you enjoyed because there are more to come!
