Hi - great scenery. I laughed out loud when I spotted the plane stuck up the tree! Great fun. Alibopo.

Hey, did you have to get a HAM licence to fly FPV? I been looking into this for a while and thats what it seems like. NIce flying by the way.

I don't think you need one until you start using the uhf frequencies. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I am going to get one just because I want to learn more about doing long range stuff.

I fly over in Abbotsford BC and no we don't need a ham until we are using Dragonlink style gear (433Mhz stuff). anything on the 900Mhz, 2.4Ghz or 5.8Ghz is considered hobby/open. My wireless router uses 2.4/5.8 so i better not need a ham...lol.
We cant use 1.2 or 1.3 range as that's used commercially in canada.

Can you use the 1.3/1.2 if you have a ham licence? I kind of want to get a 1.3 set up so I can go through the trees a lot further. 5.8 works great until you start flying in the forest.

Unfortuneately no, the HAM only allows you to use the Amateur radio bands which is the 433Mhz stuff. I personally would go with a 900Mhz around here, ive been thinking of getting the hobbyking 900Mhz stuff. where is this club the one in rosedale?

The club isn't in Rosedale it's at the north end of Chilliwack off Ballam rd. Here is a link with a map http://www.fvrcf.com/Map.html if you have your MAAC you should come out one day we could try some formation flying with FPV gear.

I imagine the 900mhz stuff will go through things even better then the 1.3 stuff. How is it for video quality though? I still plane on getting my HAM so I can do the long range rc setups.
