Cheap insurance paid off!

A while back I wrote an article about charging your batteries in an ammo box for safety ( http://flitetest.com/articles/LiPo_Charging_Bunker ). Today, the few dollars I spent on that ammo can has paid me back in spades. It was the cheapest insurance policy I've ever bought, and boy am I glad I did.

The battery I was charging had been in a couple crashes, had a slight ding on one corner, but wasn't puffy at all, hence why I kept using it.

It self destructed and melted my charging/balance leads and filled my garage with nasty smelling smoke.

Our hobby is a ton of fun, but there are aspects of it which shouldn't be taken lightly. Be safe out there.

Oh my! could have burnt down the house! I Got myself a metal cart that I charge my batteries on for $50 at harborfright. Have you been testing your batteries internal resistance? EA has a video about this stuff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usRE3gLFnOc

Great info. Thanks for the link. I didn't know about checking internal resistance.
