Cargo Twin Dropper
My name is Morgan Spence and I am 14 years old from Kilbarchan, Scotland. This Summer, (which strangely for Scotland was rather warm) I scratch built a Cargo Twin Dropper, from the popular RcGroups thread. My hope has been that this would be an excellent platform for practicing with ailerons, dropping cargo and possibly for FPV in the future.
This was the first plane that I had scratchbuilt, and it was slightly hard than I expected!! There is alot to think about when building your own planes... aero dymanics, weight, power, strength, and whether or not the thing will actually fly! However, after 5 weeks of building, modifiying and testing I finally managed to crack it. The wingspan on this plane is a little over 1100mm and around 980mm in length.
DEPRON FOAM SUPPLIER - UK- http://www.depron.co.uk/
I am operating on 5 channels using an extremely cheap Hobbyking radio (something like $33!) and twin 1300kv Bluewonder motors. I'm spinning 8x3.8 props with HK SS 8-10amp esc's and 4 Tower Pro SG92R servos (and an extra for the bomb baydoor at the rear of the plane. The all out weight of the plane comes to a light 656grams, with a 1300mah 3s battery loaded. Cg is around 1/3 back from the leading edge of the wing. I've modified the orginial plans and added three roof top compartments and doors, for extra ease access the electronics, battery compartment and bomb bay. Flight times are around 13 minutes on a 1300mah 3s.
Specs-
Motors- 1300kv Brushless Bluewonders- (2x)
Esc- HK Super Simple 8-10Amp Esc- (2x)
Reciever- HK-T6A V2 Reciever
Servo- Tower Pro SG92R- (5X)
Prop- 8x6- (2x)
Leads- XT60 Y leads, Servo Y leads and extensions-( 4x)
Battery- Turnigy 1300mah 3s Lipo
Weight- 656grams
Wingspan- 1100mm
Length- 980mm
This plane is capable "transporting" a 200gram cargo load (parachute men and waterballoons). The cargo door servo is operated be a knob on the top of my transmitter which allows me to open the door to what ever angle I want and then close it after the load is released. Inside there is plenty of space for electronics and possibly a camera at some point. My thro's are set high so I can perform the occasional 3d manouver! I've built this using 6mm depron, packing tape and a £3 hotglue gun! I'm current doing test flights, and so far nothing has burst into flames, no mid-air drop outs or crash landings. (yet.)
Some pictures.

I am dutch as well and would really like to know where you bought the material to build this awesome plane. I am only a beginner in building, so do you have any suggestions that could help me? I even do not know what "1mm down thrust on both nacelles" means... And are the props spinning in opposite directions? Maybe you can drop me an E-mail at: ceramic999@gmail.com (kan dan natuurlijk ook in het nederlands !!)
Morgspenny, my compliments on what you accomplished, it espired me to build my own. Hopefully I wil get it to fly aswell.
