Battery charge marker

by capitaineflam25 | December 4, 2013 | (10) Posted in Tips

I have a lot of batteries, some on my workbench, some in my field bag, and sometime i forget which one is ready to fly and which one needs a charge.

I now apply a small piece of shrink tube on the plug, and it gave me a cheap "cap charge marker".
If needed you can fold a piece of paper/plastic on the tube to get a warning message you need before flying with the battery.

When i found a battery without this reminder cap, i know that it has been plugged and that i need to check its charge.

What diameter shrink tube works best?

For my XT60 plugs i used 14mm diameter Heat Shrink Tube.
Just after you shrinked it, it can stuck a litlle bit on your plug, just unstick it with a toothpick or something similar.

I simply wrap an elastic band around every battery I take off charge, then remove the elastic band when I use the battery.

I really like these - so much so I went out into the workshop and made 10 of the things myself. I put green tags in mine that say "Charged" that way I no which ones to take out of the box when I head for the flying field.

That's an interesting idea, thanks for sharing. I put my used batteries velcro (belly) up to tell me which ones need charging--zero material cost. Currently managing over 40 LiPos with no issues so far.

Cheers!
