Adventures of my FPV Raptor

Windy day flying over Portland and Kennebunkport

First day flying and what I learned about launching it:

My best video with this plane, if you are going to watch any of these vids watch this one:

I got this plane as a replacement for my Bixler. Even though it looks similar to the Bix it flies quite differently. It has a thinner wing so it flies faster, stalls at a higher speed and generally a bit more challenging to fly well. However once you get the hang of it, it is great. At launch you really have to throw it hard or chuck it off a hill to get it air borne.

A lot of people modify this plane with a bigger motor and esc or bigger wings but I thought it was pretty good in stock condition as long as the esc gets enough cooling.

I eventually crashed it while doing a low high speed pass, lost perspective in the  turn out and took a digger. Anyone have a spare Raptor wing laying around?? I'd like to get it flying again. Zoom ON!

It was a pretty straight forward to build although the instructions were a little vague, there were different length screws and it was not specified where each type of screw was used..but figured it out. A lot of people in on line forums complained about the esc burning out, so I mounted mine on the outside of plane to promote cooling. Keep your speed up when flying low this plane is not a floater, it stalls at a higher speed than other simular designs (bixler, etc). There is a spot on the tail boom for mounting you video TX. Never got that far along with mine, just flew with the gopro strapped on. Check out this guys page on youtube, he was doing alot of fpvin' with his raptor a few months ago: http://www.youtube.com/user/WWXsynflux. Enjoy the plane it is pretty cool.
