You had been very lucky to land in the tree!!!
What frequency are you using on your AV link? 200mW with 900MHz, 2.4GHz or something else?? Log In to reply
At least!! I'm planning to buy the 200mW 5.8GHz kit from HK but I wasn't sure about how far it could get me. I think 700m is enough for me! Log In to reply
You will need to use upgraded antennas to get more than .5 km or so. I have used that same tx/rx combo. I'm going to post a 5.8 helical antenna build guide sometime soon. Those will get you out a long way when paired with a cloverleaf on your plane. Log In to reply

There were power lines in the area. We think it was both of us standing between the plane and the Tx. We learned that lesson the hard way. Log In to reply
The glitch appears at about 4:30. There's some info at the end of the video. Nonamerc is right in suggesting that some set-up information at the beginning would have made what you were watching more comprehensive. Not bad if this is a first video though. Log In to reply
Ok so here is what I gather. 700m you say? That 600-700m mark comes up again and again in all the forums regarding frsky "issues". Is the frsky module new to you, reason I ask is have you set your failsafe or just go flying? frsky stock antennas are trash made only worse by coax trimmed at 33mm instead of 29mm and how far are antennas from vtx? try for as much separation as possible. looks like you hit magic 700m plus flew over municiple looking building most liking throwing off all sorts of nasty wifi signals....failsafe kicked in and since it wasnt set, default is full aileron deflection....hence death spiral....signal regained one last time prior to hitting tree....but by then too late. yeah after watching again....really think that is what it was. lots of times with frsky i may get WAY out without single rssi ping but as soon as i bank for turn around rssi alarm starts going off. you started a bank back to right, changing antenna orientation rx stopped receiving packets....second or two failsafe kicks in. are you using telemetry two way rx or the non telem, should be getting rssi alarms. wow that is one crazy glitch... seems like the crash wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been. I'll take tree over building any day. :) Log In to reply
Yeah, it was crazy. It all happened so quick we couldn't recover before we lost LOS. We were lucky that day. There was only minor damage to the plane. Log In to reply
Well the way I see it,we are all learning everyday getting better thanks to everyone's help and honesty. Myself I like to just use the stuff laying around for the planes and try flying them for the fun of it you never know when you might just get the magic and all things click and you have something great.
Any Landing you can walk away with minor damage is a good LANDING..,
Keep em coming and we will watch em ! ! Log In to reply
Maybe it is an idea to edit the video so that it's about 1/2 minutes long? Because right now we don't know where the glitch is. Also it's a good idea to add some information about your plane setup and stuff. Log In to reply
