The gift of "Flite"

by Arno1978 | July 12, 2012 | (18) Posted in Challenges

What I love about this hobby is to share it with so many people , or even kids as possible.

With this in mind had want to put forward a request to Chad, Josh Bixler and Josh Scott.

I am sure that there are a couple of individuals that would give alot to get their hands on some of the scratch build planes / copters built by the FliteTest team, I for one would not mind purchasing the recent "H-Quad".

Now here is my challenge, and please rate this article to show your support of this idea.

The Gift of Flite is something very precious, and all of us with kids would agree that getting them involved with RC flight is one of the best gifts in life, thus may I suggest that FliteTest takes one of their most special scratch builds e.g. the "H-Quad", and put it up for auction, and give to proceeds to child welfare, but also have a special day where little children are introduced to RC flight on a small scale, e.g. building a small foamy and seeing it fly.

At the end of this Gift of Flite Day the proceeds of the auction / bidding can be handed over to a welfare organization chosen by a group of FliteTest supporters in the US.
Just a thought, use it, don't use it.

PS.

And we would expect an episode on YouTube about it, as the only way I would be able to share in the experience is to have another fabulous episode of FliteTest as I am not living in the US.

Thanks for sharing the Gift of Flite.

I like the idea, that's very good for communities. And I think we should do it! The only question I have is how do people know which charity or which state it is going to go to? You know, if I live in Iowa, I would probably be interested in helping local families in Iowa, I am sure you feel the same way about your native state. On the other hand, there are funds that have branches all over US and they spread the gifts on their own judgement, because they probably will know better where it's needed the most.

Love the idea, it's another way to increase the importance of RC hobbies, too.

This is a really great idea. It is very similar to something we have been wanting to do since we started. I want to go somewhere, maybe a 3rd world country. Somewhere children would have no access to the hobby. And I'd like to take Josh and Josh to different villages and teach the kids to build planes from scratch. When these children build something with their own hands… and it flys, they will understand that they can do anything!!!

It's great to hear that, glad we share the same sentiments when it comes to sharing the hobby.

I live in South Africa - Pretoria, maybe not 100% a third world, but Africa could be a good place to start :)

Let us know where we could be of any assistance.

excellent idea. I know some people at my local club who would be willing to pay over $1,000 for some of your small electrics just because you guys used them. It is also good for the community, You guys should really do this!

Everything done to help people to get involved with the hobby is a very nice idea.
People from Flite Test with ideas like .. the gift .. will be even more popular than today.

It's a really nice idea, I only hope it's not too much work - you know, shipping and stuff.

The plane is fine, but take it a step longer. The experience that has been shown by the Flite Test Crew is gold in itself, and it is world wide. Auction off a day of teaching to a group of RC'ers in each continent, as a prize? Some Sugar Daddy can buy the quad and have a prize for themselves, and the money can go to those that would gain from this cause. The basic idea is good and should be played forward.
