Taking a Fence…

Taking a Fence…

I love Deltas,

‘maybe as I learnt to fly RC on them’.

 When I fitted a Kline–Fogleman airfoil

 …A KF step to us all … actually it’s a KFM2 I BELIEVE….

Straight away I noticed the high speed and cruise stability was apparent but not any noticeable floating lift for those slow high Alfa passes we all love to do. Also when the throttle was chopped it was coming down… gentle but not floaty …

So I fitted End fences, only small ones and…. ‘Ha Presto’.......... floaty low speed high Alfa with high speed stability…

On windy days even some gentle soaring is possible.

’ Think I stole this idea from the flying wing guys actually’

So what is happening... well i think the Delta wing shape, particularly when fitted with a KFM step bleeds the high pressure air off the wing tips and the  Widgets or end plates or fences help channel this air rear wards and this maintains that KFM lifting Buble of air that we are always hearing about.

But if you’re a foamy Delta freak as I am... try it see if it works for you.

Here is the same thing ... but with Twin rudders on my Delta Jet

Your quite correct it is a ChangeSun 10 blade .. i bought it in a mad moment to fit on a Bixler...those rainy days sure have lots to answer for..... but did not have the heart to hack off the motor pod so i put it on my trusty Delta.... i will get some footage and post it... sounds really good..
Keep the amazing footage coming .... Ho great aviator
