36 add on planes for RC Desk Pilot

by rcspaceflight | December 10, 2014 | (25) Posted in Projects

Disclaimer: These are meant just for fun. I have never flown the majority of these planes. Due to that limitation, the limitation of my add on creating skills, and any possible limitations with RC Desk Pilot, I can not guarantee the accuracy of the add ons when compared to the planes they represent.

I believe that flying a wide variety of planes in a simulator will make any one a better pilot. Therefore variety is more important than accuracy.

A huge thank you to Davy, the creator of RC Desk Pilot. With out his software I could have never created these add ons, nor would I have an RC flight simulator to play with.

RC Desk Pilot can be downloaded @ www.rcdeskpilot.com

BMI simulator can be downloaded @ https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/722381/BMIflightsimulator_021.exe

The 36 add on planes I created can be downloaded @https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2NsP42I67QEdzJjQXF1dFRFbjQ/view?usp=sharing (Click "download" button on top of the screen)

"Show off" Video:

How to change paint scheme for the few customizable versions:

Not only should you feel free to change the .PNG that is the skin of a few of the models, but also feel free to open them in the Aircraft Editor and change their settings. If you're worried about "messing up" the planes I have made, then create a new one based on my "original".

Enjoy!

You have been busy! Excellent work. You mention that some of the plane colours can be modified, how can we tell which ones? Thanks again for your hard work and thanks to Davy for RC Desk Pilot.

The planes with the label "CPS" in their title have editable paint schemes. Also the Champ and Beaver (which says so in their descriptions).

Technically you could with the FT Viggen also. But the decal set made by David that I used didn't always line up correctly and changing that might make it look weird. (Plus, why would you want to change it when David did such a good job with that decal set?)

This was so great to find. Thank you. I'm almost finished building my Storch and it will be nice to get some practice in. Also It allowed me to confirm wanting to build a wing. Thanks again. I found this very useful.

would anyone know how I could get these into 3Dmax or sketchup? My goal is to get them into real-flight. Better yet does anyone know if the flighttest planes are ready to import into real-flight?

With the planes that I could, I included the original Sketchup file in the folder for the plane. (I lost the original files for a lot of the first models I made.)

I am not familiar with 3Dmax, but if it allows to import .x files, then you can import those which are also in the folders for each plane. (There are conversion software out there that will convert .x to more common formats. Some are free, some cost money.)

Thanks for the info. I will have to take a look for the conversion software.

Hi everyone.
I have some questions on these sims.
1-is there instructions somewhere? I'm not a gamer, just an OLD GUY!
2-what is used to control the aircraft?
3-How do you load the 36 planes in to the sim program?
Any help would be appreciated.

1. there arent instructions as far as i know
2.you can set up a usb transmitter, or a wireless transmitter to your computor, im actually using a yoke
3. go to program files, then desk top pilot, then copy and paste the 36 airplanes files into there!
( ; hope this helps

how does one make a water model flyable?!

There is no way to edit an add on plane to make it be able to land and take off in the water of the BMI version. I'm assuming it's because the aircraft editor was made before the BMI version so there isn't that option.

It kind of sucks, but it is what it is.
