What we have here is an Old Fogey scratch build with all the electrics from a Super Cub. The idea stuck me after I took a heavey crash with the cub and it was pretty much in pieces after that. Luckly it was only the outer frame that was damaged and I could still use what was left. Originally a couple of months ago I made the Old Fogey off of the free plans and had planned on buying the elecrtonics buy never got around to it. It wasn't until I crashed the plane I decided to transfer everything onto the Fogey. I started stripping the plane down off all of its parts and tried to use as much of the plane I could considering the Fogey was nothing but a couple pieces of foam. The first thing I used were the control horns. They worked great for this build because they held tightly against the foam.
The hardest part was finding a comfortable stop for the push rods and servos to sit. I made a make shift servo tray that the servos stuck right onto. When I took the servos out I used the stick pad on the bottom of them and put it right to the tray.
I already planned on using velcrow to fasten the reciver and battery so all there was to do was the motor. The cub uses a brushed motor so it sicks out pretty far compaired to the brushless motors. So i made a fire wall out of scrape wood and leveled it off and glued it far enough back so it was flush and not much stuck out.
After that I finished gluing everything down and pluged everything in and of course the throws were off but after a little adgustment it was squared away. I checked the center of gravity and balanced very well right in the crease of the wings.
It started out as a heap of parts but in the end turned out to be a flyable aircraf
