The ZEPHYR

The Durafly Zephyr V-70… yep, we got it!  From the super compressed EPO foam body construction, carbon and fiberglass reinforcement to the bi-lateral EDF intakes and V-tail design, the Zephyr is a very unique foamy!

In this installment of Flite Test, we overview some of the cool features of the Zephyr, take it for a test flight and share our thoughts and experiences with the plane.

If you're planning to purchase a Zephyr of your own, be sure to check the COG! As with all of your planes, especially the high performance flyers, you want to be sure to balance the Zephyr before flying.

The Zephyr calls for a 3300mAh~4000mAh 3s Lipoly Battery but the fuselage makes it very difficult for that size battery to fit. So we used a TURNIGY nano-tech 2250mAh 3S for our review and for the smaller sized battery we balanced the plane by adding some washer weights that we pulled out of the Bixler. When you purchase your plane be sure to check the aileron servos and stream-line covers to make sure they are glued down before flying.

Possibly one of the most enjoyable feature of the Durafly Zephyr V-70 is the unique turbine-like sound! The turbine sound makes the plane seem like it's flying faster than it is. Even with the TURNIGY nano-tech 2250mAh 3S battery, we were still able to clock 78mph!

The super Zephyr has compressed EPO foam, carbon and fiberglass reinforcement. It should hold up very well to rough landings compared to other foamy's. Also, the v-tail design won't get caught up in high grass landings like a conventional tail with a horizontal stabilizer.

All in all, the Durafly Zephyr V-70 is a very unique, fast, fun flyer!

New review. I have been waiting for you guys to review this one.
It is an interesting combination of a plane. I would like to see a response from the factory about the battery and weight issue.

Nice sound, but would also be nice in each review if you crash at half speed to see the durability! Would be expensive, but usefull!

Hi guys,

I have just ordered a Zephyr V-70 and am waiting on it to arrive but the batteries I ordered for it won't get here as fast so I was thinking of using some spare Nano-tech 220mah 3S batteries I have spare. How long do you think my flight time would be with them? And do you know how much weight the washers were that you added to the nose?

Love the show, keep it up.
