I know this is late, but I just saw it. I built 5 fogeys before I could fly well. It's all in the little things. What I think finally got me into the air, was precise control arms, and realizing that i need very little adjustments to keep in the air. My huge jerky movements were what got me before.

gah! I was so exited when I saw this on the FT front page. Having seen the video linked from rcgroups, I was so hoping for some more detailed information on the build.

Nice and slow, my kinda plane these days.

You are using two full sheets of DTF laminated together with UC rolled in per each wing panel?

How much dihedral at each wingtip?

Very cool. I have made two Old Fogeys and love the slow flyers.

What about some CF tubing to strengthen this up some? Sandwiched between the two layers of foam.

I built this one with what I had on hand ( no carbon fiber tubes ) , and it flies around slow and easy just fine . I was actually surprised the first time I flew it that I didn't notice any flex or flutter in the wings !

It was about half throttle in the video . It's so slow and stable , I was flying with my right hand while filming with an iPhone camera in my left hand .
