3Flite | Range testing cheap recievers!

by 3FliteUK | January 25, 2014 | (8) Posted in Just Fun

The weather has affected us more than we would have liked recently, so instead of flying, we made this lighthearted video in which we compare the ranges of 5 receivers: the Spektrum Ar600; the Orange RX 4ch; Spektrum Ar6100e; the Orange RC 6ch w/ failsafe and a Hobbyking Bixler RTF receiver and transmitter. By using GPS to track the distance until the transmitter loses control of the airplane, we can really see if the cost of the receivers is justified! Remember to like and subscribe and check out our website www.3flite.co.uk and follow us on Twitter @3Flite_RC!

Sorta scientific real world comparison, the range in the air away from tress power poles etc. would be a bit better.

Hi ! first comment on a website i'm visiting for ages, the test protocol is not quite good because you don't respect polarisation of antennas vertical VS horizontal ( or both with diversity ) ;)
by the way isn't it more easy if the tx was on the quad... and plane stays quietly @ base ? ;)))))
Good job anyway, continue making good video and fun !

Fun test. Remember that the value of a particular receiver isn't necessarily a function of range. The value of the 6100e is in its weight-saving for smaller, lighter aircraft.
